When our son Estin was a little boy, he was obsessed with dinosaurs - Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus Rex were familiar friends in our household, and trips to the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History were frequent. Now, anyone who has spent any time around little boys knows what delight so many of them take in rattling off those multi-syllabic names. I’m sure there are any number of theories out there that try to explain what it is about little boys and dinosaurs, but regardless of why they’re obsessed, we clearly had to produce a design for Estin and for all his dinosaur-crazy friends.

It was no surprise, growing up in a family of craftspeople, that he would become interested in art. As he got older, he was especially drawn to the art of the 18th century Japanese artist Hokasai. Many of Hokasai’s works were inspired by Japan’s sacred Mt. Fuji, and our son always dreamed of one day traveling there.

He just graduated from college and he is looking for his dream job. We were inspired to make him a “Great Wave” Card case (which makes the perfect graduation gift) for his new business cards, his Drivers License and credit cards - and it’s small enough to fit in his pocket.

And for his graduation gift, we bought him a ticket to Japan so he could see Mt. Fuji first hand.
